Creating and appreciating art has played a significant role in my life since I was very young. I work in both oil and watercolor and have recently been focusing on small oil still lifes where color, light and economy of big strokes are used to compose my paintings. Composing mostly 10 x10 still lifes and creating pleasing colors in the correct value and temperature, and placing them on the canvas in a single stroke is the challenge Julie faces with each one of her paintings. It is this challenge that intrigues her and inspires her to solve it. I also paint more traditional watercolors, focusing on florals and plein air. Making art takes me to another world where my thoughts are completely focused on observing and painting from life.
